French President Jacques Chirac has sent an unequivocal message to EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson by warning him against the temptation to make any new concessions on the agricultural aspect of the Doha Round trade negotiations at the World Trade Organisation. During a visit to an agricultural exhibition on 3 March in Paris, the French president became the defender of the profession's interests by directly attacking the commissioner.
