The European Commission should approve, on 6 November this year, a draft reform for the common market organisation (CMO) for cotton. The European Commissioner for Agriculture, Mariann Fischer Boel, will stick to "minor modifications" of the April 2004 reform annulled by the EU Court of Justice. The Court had believed, in September 2006, that the new CMO risked putting cotton production in danger in regions suited for its cultivation.
