Vampire Weekend has an amazingly sophisticated sound for such a young band.

The quartet of recent Ivy League graduates blends African rumba, classical and indie rock influences to create a novel, appealing and infectious debut album. The songs have a pleasing specificity, rooting an awkward, searching romanticism in wry, knowing discourses on quotidian subjects such as a Manhattan crosstown bus, college life and the serial comma.
