Article: FOOD SAFETY : EU TAKES ACTION AGAINST UK DAIRY.

The European Commission decided, on 12 October, to initiate infringement proceedings against the UK government, accusing London of not being sufficiently active in addressing unlawful and unhygienic practices at a UK dairy establishment. Products from the Bowland Dairy have been banned from sale since 6 October and until such time as the UK Food Safety Authority proves that they can be safely consumed.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has agreed that all member states will ban curd cheese produced by Bowland Dairy Products Ltd, based in Lancashire, UK, from their markets, and will trace and destroy any curd cheese from this ...
