A new strategy on the Black Sea region, put forward by the European Commission on 4 April, aims at increasing the EU engagement in the area through enhanced regional cooperation.
In a bid to better coordinate its current engagement in the energy-rich Black Sea region based on predominantly bilateral policies, the Commission decided to put forward a new comprehensive strategy aiming, in particular, at enhancing regional cooperation with countries in the region and between them.
