POLICE have vowed to catch a thief who conned his way into an 83-year-old woman's home in Great Yeldham before making off with a three-figure sum.
The man knocked on the woman's door in Butlers Way between 11am and midday on Saturday, January 15, and, after fooling her into believing he was a water board official, entered the house.
It was only after he had left she realised more than [pounds sterling]100 had been stolen from her house.
The man, who spoke with a local accent, is described aged 30 to 35, 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with gingery blond, combed-back short hair and wore a black overcoat with a yellow ID badge pinned to it.
