The Eugene City Council on Monday voted to maintain the city's gas tax at 5 cents a gallon for another three years, a move likely to trigger a referendum effort by gas station owners unhappy with the tax.
The action was part of a busy night for councilors as they also dealt with an $81 million bond measure for street repairs, tax breaks for businesses, negotiations to buy 40 acres near the Amazon Head-waters, and a Measure 37 claim by the owner of Rest-Haven Cemetery.
