BREA, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In light of National Pet Dental Health Month, Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) analyzed claims data to find that pet dental conditions linked to excessive plaque and tooth decay are costing pet owners millions of dollars each year. VPI, the nation's oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance, received claims totaling $3.8 million for tooth abscesses, root canals and advanced periodontitis (severe gum disease) in 2007, up from $2.3 million just two years earlier.
