TRIBUTES were paid last night to a former Welsh secretary Lord Thomas of Gwydir who died aged 87.
Lord (Peter) Thomas was Welsh secretary in Edward Heath's Conservative government between 1970 and 1974. He was also MP for Conwy between 1951 and 1966.
Lord Roberts of Conwy, who was Lord Thomas' parliamentary private secretary between 1970 and 1974, said: "I am extremely saddened by this news.
