MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRID) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with United Microelectronics Corporation ("UMC") and a number of other fabless semiconductor companies, to form a separate Taiwanese company to build and manage a semiconductor manufacturing facility, that will be located in the Science-Based Industrial Park in Hsin-Chu City, Taiwan, Republic of China.
The foundry is expected to produce eight inch wafers using UMC's 0.5, and when developed, 0.35 and 0.25 sub-micron processing technologies on a royalty-free basis. It is expected to be completed by the first ...
