St Helens born Munich survivor Bill Foulkes will be present at today's memorial service marking the 50th anniversary of the tragedy.
Foulkes, 76, who was born in St Helens and played for Whiston Boys Club before signing for Manchester United in 1950 at the age of 18, will join the four other living survivors, along with club officials and fans, for a remembrance service at Old Trafford.
Due to start at 3.04pm - the exact time the disaster happened - the service will remember those who died when the plane carrying the team from a European Cup quarter-final match against Red Star Belgrade crashed during take-off at Munich-Reim airport on February 6, 1958.
