Vicki Scott, of Dallas, took home first place and $1,000 in the Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts State Fair Championships with her recipe for Magic Flan Berry Pie.
Scott's recipe was selected from first-place winning recipes from 27 state and county fairs, including New York.
The pie features mixed berries and cherries, a flan filling and a surprise - a caramel layer on the bottom. Judges thought it was a nice twist on a traditional two-crust berry pie, according to Julie Hinderks, senior test kitchen expert for Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts.
