A NORTH Wales dairy farmer has received one of farming's top accolades for the way he manages his pastures.
A delighted Arthur Owen collected the Star trophy and a pounds 500 cheque after winning the British Grassland Society's annual assessment of grass-based farm systems.
Judging in the BGS National Grassland Management Competition 2007 had been delayed due to foot-and-mouth restrictions.
It is one of the industry's most prestigious awards and Arthur, of 285-acre Bodysgaw Isa, Llannefydd, Denbigh, said he was, "shocked, but shocked in a nice way".
