IT'S BEEN a frequently heard refrain since the beginning of 2007: "I'll upgrade to Vista as soon as the first service pack comes out." For those who've been singing that tune, it's almost time. Microsoft has detailed some new features in Windows Vista's Service Pack 1 (SP1).

At press time, Microsoft said Windows Vista SP1 would be released in the first quarter of 2008. The software giant estimates SP1 will be a 50MB download and require 7GB of additional hard drive space to install.
