As well as fibres made from recycled polyester bottles, manufacturers in Taiwan also produce a range of other ecologically sourced fibres and fabrics.

The materials being produced by Taiwanese mills include organic cotton, biodegradable and solvent spun fibre, and fibres produced from soybean protein, bamboo, bamboo charcoal, milk protein and polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT).

For this reason, the focus on eco-textiles at the Taipei Innovation Textile Application Show 2007 (TITAS 2007) was hardly surprising. And a number of innovative offerings were on display.
