The redevelopment of a former no-go zone into peaceful gardens could start as early as March after the project was awarded a [pounds sterling]30,000 grant.
The East of England Development Agency has confirmed it will fund a large chunk of the project to turn Siam Gardens, in Sudbury, into an area that celebrates the town's silk weaving heritage.
Under plans put forward by Sudbury market town officer Tom McConnell, the gardens will be transformed.
They were closed nearly two years ago after becoming a magnet for anti-social behaviour.
