business, where does Tampa Bay fall?
As a location for low-paying back-office and customer service operations, we're tops, in a class of our own.
But as a place for research and development or a site for corporate headquarters, we're back in steerage.
So says an annual survey of major cities in the Nov. 13 issue of Fortune magazine, just out on newsstands.
The bad news is Fortune's annual survey rates the Tampa-St. Petersburg- Clearwater metropolitan area dead last of 26 major cities for both R&D as well as for corporate headquarters.
With a scale of 1 to 5 (where 5 is best), the Tampa Bay area was the only area with a rating of 1 in ...
