Phil Coulter has given Dustin the Turkey a roasting after news that the foul-talking puppet would be entering the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Derry-born music legend, who co-wrote a number of successful entries for the competition, said a turkey representing Ireland would send Eurovision into a 'downward spiral of triviality'.
Dustin the turkey is one of six finalists chosen by RTE to face a public vote to decide which song will compete against the rest of Europe in the beloved annual contest.
But Phil, who helped pen memorable songs such as 'Puppet on a String' and 'Congratulations', urged RTE to take the competition seriously.
