Sep. 16--Garden Ridge Corp., a crafts and housewares chain, expects to launch its first Florida store in Jacksonville next March, and landed the building permits this week to do so.
The Houston-based company has leased the former Pace Membership Warehouse near Regency Square mall and plans a 33,000-square-foot addition to expand the retail center to 141,000 square feet.
"We are anticipating opening that store on or about March 1," said Richard Humphreys, president of Central Park Associates Inc., the chain's construction manager.
Peck & Associates of Daytona will handle construction of the project, estimated at $1.9 million.
