The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is reviewing its rules to determine whether changes are needed in its regulation of exchange and over-the-counter derivatives markets, the agency's chairwoman said last week.

"I expect the staff to complete its work this fall and to make its recommendations at that time," Mary Schapiro said last week at the National Grain Trade Council.

"If our internal review causes us to conclude that legislative changes, either modest or far-reaching, are required, we will not hesitate to recommend them," she said.
