Sixty years or more have passed since I caught my first fish, and I'm still learning, still being surprised and delighted that die surprises are still there. There may be other outdoor pursuits with dimensions as limitless as those of fishing, but right now none occur to me.
My latest affair with Maine's smallmouth bass is ongoing, and it has already generated a particular combination of memorable joys and gratifications, especially satisfying because I had to wait about 35 years for all of this to happen.
