ficionados kicked off the second annual Jazz Legends Gala Saturday night in Virginia Beach with a concert - a tribute to trumpeter Freddie Hubbard - at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. Tonight's black-tie gala at The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center will feature performances by jazz legends Slide Hampton and Marlena Shaw, among others.

Highlighting the evening will be the announcement of a scholarship awarded to a local high school music student, in honor of jazz great Frank Foster.
