ROCKY HILL, CT George "Gige" Soter, Captain, USMC-Retired, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 9, 2008 after a long illness battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 55 years.
George was born in Worcester MA. on December 6,1927, where he was raised during the depression and rose from the challenges of an inner-city (Worcester, MA) to attain both scholastic and athletic excellence, a 3-Letter High School athlete and scholar. George was the son of the late Theodore & Eugenia (Panagopoulos) Soter (Sotiropoulos) of Worcester, MA and Greece.
