People working in the plastics industry should not need reminding that plastics are inherently 'green.' They constitute a highly efficient use of non-renewable feedstocks, their high strength-to-weight ratio helps them save energy in all forms of transport; foam materials provide highly-effective thermal insulation ... the list goes on and on.
But as the teacher said, "Could do better." Could do better getting ready for the time when non-renewables run out. Could do better making what is already good, better. Could do better telling the rest of the world that plastics do indeed benefit the planet, and generally it is their misuse ...
