Technical Polymers member Gnter Metz said the company is talking to potential partners to form an alliance.
Bernd Sassenrath, head of Hoechst's technical polymers division, says the company is reassessing its position in polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and fluoropolymers.
COMBINE TECHNOLOGIES. Hoechst, with a combined HDPE and PP capacity of 1 million m.t./year, has a market share of 7%. In PP, Metz says, Hoechst would consider expanding capacities in line with market growth and might "give thought to building new plants that incorporate the new gas-phase and metallocene catalyst technologies."
