SECURITY procedures at Stornoway Airport are currently under investigation after a national newspaper last weekend revealed breaches in security, allowing a reporter to walk alongside passenger filled planes as they sat on the runway awaiting take-off.
At Inverness airport the reporter, from a tabloid newspaper dressed in a workman's fluorescent yellow jacket and rigger boots, was ignored by staff as he made his way through security gates and walked airside for over 30 minutes.
And in Stornoway he also found security gates leading onto the airstrip unmanned and easily opened.
The story followed a tip-off from an ex-Highlands and Islands Airport ...
