Shocking injuries caused by people using glasses in bar fights could become become a thing of the past in Durham City.
More than 10,000 shatter-proof glasses are being introduced into some of the city's busiest bars to curb the problem.
The trial is believed to be the first of its kind and will see eight bars and nightclubs, including Yates's, Walkabout, Klute and Love Shack, introduce the polycarbonate glasses.
