A stop by two accessories presentations, Tom Binns and Jennifer Alfano, offered a respite from the runway. Binns showed the first installment of his collection, with more to be revealed in Paris beginning Feb. 26. One group paid homage to Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass" by expertly wrapping gold and silver leaves around the wrist, creating chic cuffs and bangles, or shaping them in a circle for a new take on the hoop earring. Three other groups reflected Binns' view of the dark mood of the industry, and the world, for that matter. The names said it all.
