Having endured a brutal tango with their counterparts from Anoka, members of the third-ranked Coon Rapids wrestling team showered and headed upstairs for Friday's winter formal dance.
Beating the eighth-ranked Tornadoes 36-24 made those late-arriving grapplers the men of the hour.
The Cardinals, who have not been to the state tournament since 1986, enter next week's Class 3A, Section 7 tournament as the No. 1 seed.
