The R2,4-million Vodacom Championship from today until Sunday at Pretoria CC is part of a fast-growing Sunshine Tour worth over R55-million in prizemoney in 2008.
That figure excludes the $4,385m Nedbank Golf Challenge purse, which translates to an additional R33-million.
That South African professional golf is doing well (there are over 30 tournaments on the 2008 schedule) has much to do with the hard work put in by Tour Commissioner Johan Immelman - whose four-year tenure is about to come to an end - under the guidance of a board headed by Johann Rupert and Selwyn Nathan.
