Children with chronic conditions present complex challenges to those responsible for their educational and health services. These children must cope with the unique demands of their disorders as well as the usual challenges of childhood development. Although risks of academic failure, social isolation, and worsening of health problems in children with chronic conditions are well recognized, factors that contribute to their solutions are less clear.
