Eager to expand their business into the potentially lucrative Latin American market, a normally competitive group of U.S. programers is joining forces to promote the region to advertisers.
Although the number of multichannel TV subscribers in Latin America today stands at about 13.7 million households, programers are betting on the tremendous upside potential of a developing region with more than 360 million people. Programers have great hopes for Pan-Latin TV ad sales, despite relatively low 1995 estimated revenue of $18 million (by comparison, Pan-European ad market revenue this year is valued at about $190 million).
