THE OWNER of an animal sanctuary near Markyate devastated by a massive fire says she now fears her safe haven for abandoned pets might have to close.
Tamara Lloyd, 38, who runs the Alternative Animal Sanctuary on Doone Brae Farm, Windmill Road, lost her home and animals including five dogs when a blaze broke out at the site on February 1.
Yesterday, the animal carer for more than 20 years spoke of how she feared uncertainties over insurance payouts and future funding could force her sanctuary to shut.
Miss Lloyd, who helped save more than 30 horses from the fire at her farm site, said: "It all hinges on money.
