Today's variety of slide scanners bring in high-quality images for graphics pros on a budget
While flatbed scanners are nearly ubiquitous in graphics shops, slide scanners have yet to become a must-have peripheral. Still, these somewhat exotic devices are becoming increasingly useful for transforming photographic film--slides and transparencies--into files you can work on in Adobe Photoshop. Slide scanners surpass their flatbed counterparts in avoiding image degradation. With flatbeds you go from film to paper to digital--losing resolution with each step. Slide scanners cut out the middle step--and they're becoming less expensive.
