BEAVER DAM -- Back in the late 1960s, teenager Jim Nordquist and his father spent many cold, crisp winter nights ice fishing for northern pike, walleye and perch on Trego Lake near Spooner in northwestern Wisconsin.
They'd cut holes in the ice, set up their Beaver Dam Tip-Ups, which Joe Nordquist sold in his Fort Dodge, Iowa, sporting goods store, and return to a bronze 1964 Ford Ranchero to stay warm.
