The editors' brief preface succinctly explains the otherwise seemingly random method of choosing the works listed in the table of contents. This is a Festschrift for Gerhard Sauder, and the selected poems are by authors in whom Sauder has a special interest; furthermore: "weniger bekannte Schriftsteller werden mit wichtigen Gedichten neu bewertet, wie umgekehrt `beruhmten' Dichtern mit weniger popularen Texten neue Facetten abgewonnen werden" (9).
