It is common knowledge that our public transport system leaves a lot to be desired.
First, it is not integrated - rail, bus and taxi operators are running un-co-ordinated services - resulting in passengers spending long hours and a lot of money travelling, especially if they have to use more than one mode of travel.
Second, it is not safe, with old and sometimes unroadworthy vehicles being used. The occasional disputes and conflicts between operators endanger the lives of the users.
Third, it is driven by operator interests, rather than passenger needs or public authority plans for development.
