THE FAMILY of a Calderdale soldier killed in a roadside bomb attack in Iraq have pleaded for better protection for British troops.

Corporal Kris O'Neill, 27, originally from Sowerby, died when the armoured personnel carrier in which he was travelling was hit by a buried bomb when returning from patrol in Basra.

On Tuesday the inquest into the death of Corporal O'Neill, of the Royal Army Medical Corps, and four others who died alongside him, heard the bomb blasted the unprotected underside of the Warrior vehicle.
