POLICE spent pounds 120,000 on a new badge - only to cop it from critics who say it's a waste of cash.

Lothian and Borders Police are ditching their old crest after deciding the public did not recognise it.

The cash-strapped force forked out for a new logo "to illustrate its new core values and tone of voice" - as well as a new motto: Work with Us.

But politicians and rank and file officers last night slammed ...
