NEW YORK - Marie Claire - a mainstay magazine in Europe - has begun to muscle its way into the fashion fray here.
The U.S. version of Marie Claire, a joint venture between Hearst Magazines and Marie Claire Album SA in Paris, became a monthly in September, after two test issues and three bi-monthly issues over the past year. It is also a hybrid, combining Cosmo-style features with upscale and mainstream fashion editorials.
While it may put off some luxury advertisers looking for a more elitist environment, it has drawn such top accounts as Chanel, Versace Couture, Kenzo, Guess, St. John, Estee Lauder and Lancome, all of which appear in the October issue.
