PLANS for a cross-Forth hovercraft service from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh will be put on hold from the end of this month.
Stagecoach announced on Tuesday that it will freeze all research and development on the project until it receives clarification from the Scottish Government and other public sector agencies on their role and funding - both key to establishing the service.
The announcement came after the company confirmed a hovercraft would not be operational until 2009 - the transport firm had previously hoped to set up an interim one-craft service to Portobello by the end of this year, to be followed by a permanent service landing at Leith.
