SOUTHBRIDGE - A committee overseeing the high school's structurally deficient library-media center is unanimously recommending that town officials borrow $625,119 to fix the problem.

The committee intends to have the media center portion of the building wing secured, and have the 4,480-square-foot library section demolished.

Built in the mid-1970s, the building wing was closed in September, as it suffers from extreme building settling and movement. This places it in a potentially hazardous and unsafe condition, according to a feasibility study by Reinhardt Associates Inc. of Agawam.
