A MAN who took part in the planned robbery of a liquor store at a Pietermaritzburg mall was sentenced to two life terms yesterday for the murders of the liquor store owner and a fellow robber.
John Ndawonde, 35, was also sentenced to an additional 15 years imprisonment for aggravated robbery. He was part of a five-man gang which robbed the Hayfields Shopping Centre liquor store and killed De Wet Joubert, 64.
On April 3 2004, four of the robbers, including Ndawonde, entered the liquor store and demanded money, while the fifth waited in the getaway car. After taking the money, one of the robbers shot Joubert.
