Two Lancashire MPs are spearheading a campaign to stop Britannia's removal from British coins.
The patriotic symbol, based on a Roman goddess, will no longer be on any British coin for the first time in more than 300 years as part of a dramatic redesign.
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has branded the plans to "junk" Britannia as "madness".
The 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p coins are also being redesigned, in what the Royal Mint has called the largest shake-up of coinage since decimalisation.
