Article: Air Force to investigate cost savings of foreign sales of JDAM.(Joint Direct Attack Munition)

The Pentagon acquisition chief is exploring whether the U.S. should sell the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) to foreign countries at the same time it is being produced for the U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter and bomber squadrons.

The JDAM kits fit on 1,000 and 2,000 pound bombs, turning those bombs into guided bombs through the use of a Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite receiver. JDAM will be integrated on the Air Force's F-16, B-52 and B-1 and the Navy's F/A-18 and AV-8B aircraft.
