Q. How important are chain drug stores to the success of hosiery products?
JIM MOZINGO, vice president of business development and market information, Kayser-Roth Inc. legwear division: "Legwear is important to the drug class of trade. It currently accounts for more than $350 million at retail. This level makes legwear a higher volume category than most health and beauty aids, personal care or cosmetics categories in drug stores. Nevertheless, it's been declining at an alarming rate over the past two years. On an all-outlet basis the percentage that drug stores account for has declined from 15% to 11% of total legwear sales."
