MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In another significant expansion of its Neurological Business, Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) announced today that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Micro Interventional Systems, Inc., of Sunnyvale, Calif. The acquisition is expected to be completed this month.

Micro Interventional Systems (MIS) is a rapidly emerging provider of products for the minimally invasive treatment of stroke and for treating disease in other parts of the body accessible through small blood vessels.

The transaction will be an exchange of stock. Further financial details were not disclosed.
