A PROPOSAL by an MI6 agent to assassinate a Balkan leader was not the blueprint to kill Diana, Princess of Wales, her inquest has been told.
The spy said the region's civil war in the early 1990s prompted him to suggest an assassination to prevent "another Hitler" in power.
But he denied his target was ex-Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic and that his plan involved staging a tunnel crash involving a blinding flash of light.
Mohamed al Fayed has maintained that the fatal car crash that killed his son Dodi, the princess and driver Henri Paul in Paris in 1997 was set up by MI6 at the behest of the Duke of Edinburgh and may have involved a bright light.
