As the subtitle indicates, this book is an attempt to present the history of psychology in its social, or cultural, context. In that endeavor, it succeeds very well. Most texts on the market barely mention this factor. Histories of psychology usually catalog the issues, empirical findings, and theoretical systems up to about 1950 and give a brief account of what has occurred since then. Cherie G.
