Airport screeners possibly tipped off to covert tests. Homeland Security Inspector General Richard Skinner is looking into whether screeners at six airports were tipped off in advance of undercover tests that were to determine how reliably they detect guns, bombs and knives. A report from Skinner's office found that screeners in Jackson, Miss., "received advance notice of covert testing" by TSA agents in February 2004. According to the report, the agents described to screeners the gender and race of the undercover testers, as well as the types and locations of weapons they were trying to get past through security.
